okay, so maybe i have a shit pc or something, but i can't run minecraft normally. like, 4fps even with everything optimized can't run. so naturally, i tried to download mods yesterday. optifine is cool and all, but i've recently heard about a mod called Distant Horizons which i really wanted to try, because normally my render distance is on 6 and i think it'd be cool to see the mountaintops from my little village in the valley. so, i download curseforge, blah blah blah, follow all the steps, and the minecraft launcher IMMEDIATELY crashes. like, i can't even download the mods. the error code i get is "1". because of the simple number, i naively assume it's a simple fix, and google the problem.

i spend 3 fucking hours troubleshooting.
i redownload java about 30 times.
i redownload minecraft 20 times.
i reinstall forge for god knows how long, and none of it works.
i manually delete all files related to javascript, forge, minecraft in the program data files on windows to start COMPLETELY fresh and nothing is happening. i feel like giving up. nothing i'm seeing on google is working. i've deleted all my texture packs, all my old worlds, everything. suddenly, i see a video. [REAL SOLUTION TO "EXIT CODE 1" (ALL ELSE FAILS)].
i expect another dead end. of course i do. how could i expect anything else? but then...
he mentions AMD graphics drivers. wait. aren't those.., the big fat letters plastered on MY computer!?!??!

i had to ROLL BACK MY FUCKING GRAPHICS DRIVERS. that was it. that was the whole solution. if you have AMD graphics drivers and you can't run minecraft with curseforge you probably need to roll back your graphics drivers.
